Upcoming Appearances and Recent Highlights
Left to Right: Flowers in Vancouver; a Good Luck Charm from the owner of the Hanshin Tigers Baseball Team in Osaka; and a Curtain Call with condutor Daniel Meyer in Lexington, Kentucky.
ROKKO OROSHI !!! TORA WA TSUYOI NE !!!
(From the Winds of Mt. Rokko... the Tigers are strong, ain't they!)
Last December I was invited to meet Mr. Tsuneaki Miyazaki, owner of my favorite baseball team, the Hanshin Tigers of Osaka, Japan. We had a most enjoyable conversation followed by a press conference at which he crowned my head with a Tigers cap (shown above). This image was featured on all of the Japanese daily sports pages the next day. Though the Tigers are having a difficult year so far, surely they will pick up and challenge for the Central League crown again. Ishhouken-mei ganbatte (Let's give it our best) Tigers!!!
HERE'S WHERE I'LL BE PERFORMING NEXT...
2009 - 2010
This coming season I will be in residence in the beautiful country of Japan. In addition to concerts in Tokyo and Osaka, I will be travelling from Japan to Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand; further appearances are planned for Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong, so stay tuned! I'll also be performing throughout the United States and Canada, and you can find detailed information about those concerts below.
Two major events will mark this season. On November 11 (2009) at 8:00 p.m., I will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of my New York debut with a solo recital at Merkin Hall in Manhattan. This recital will be recorded on DVD and CD, and will include repertoire highlights of my career -- music of Bach-Busoni, Mozart, Bohuslav Martinu, Kouji Taku, Miklós Rózsa, and a collection of favorite foxtrot transcriptions of my own. Please join me for this special occasion!
Now in the works for next summer is a comprehensive recording project of the Piano Concertos of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, many with originally-composed cadenzas by myself. This is the realization of a lifelong dream, and I hope you'll stay tuned as the project develops. We're hoping to release these recordings on video as well as audio, perhaps even in real-time live performance or mp3 files. Keeping up with a changing world!
In the meantime progress continues on three CDs already recorded and now being edited for release: Volumes 2 and 3 of "The Bach-Busoni Edition" and "The Collected Piano Music of Dana Suesse," all on E-1 Entertainment (formerly Koch International). Please check this site or Amazon.com for updates.
